Waste Minimisation:

  • We have just made a huge commitment to increasing recycling! Sustainability experts Cool Planet have conducted a business waste assessment. We have made an investment into a new waste management system and committed to reducing landfill.
  • Recycling stations in kitchens, common areas and office areas to recycle anything from printer cartridges or our 100% recycled paper, to tinnies of beer and plastic containers, and even dead batteries!
  • No plastic bottles or plastic bags on site, we only sell reusable, and offer bag sharing for grocery runs.
  • 75,000 bottles/cans and plastic bottled recycled Jan 18 – Jan 19

Electricity Efficiency:

  • Our pool is heated by the sun! Solar panels make it perfect for swimming all year ‘round
  • Power saving light bulbs throughout the hostel
  • Use and promotion of public transport Australia wide, the easiest way to reduce your carbon footprint!
  • Mesh fridge bags available to rent or buy to reduce energy consumption in the fridge

Water Saving:

  • Water reducing shower heads and dual flush toilets for ultimate bathroom efficiency
  • Our gardens? They’re water free. With drought-resistant plants, they don’t use any of our water!
